Our four public high schools have answered the educational call, today ranking among the top 5% of all high schools nationwide but they are #66 out of 71 HS Districts in California for state and federal funding.

The problem: years of inadequate state school funding have taken their toll.

This is not an expense problem; it’s a revenue problem.

While educational costs continue rising, AUHSD has cut $4.2M in the last 2 years alone and it’s having an impact.

Did you know we currently have only one librarian for our four high schools due to cuts?

AUHSD’s last new funding measure was 16 years ago. Without Measure W, drastic cuts will continue.

Our students will suffer more in academic program losses, increasing class sizes, and layoffs of valued teachers, counselors, and support staff. 

Our high school graduates must be prepared to compete in a highly technical and competitive global workforce. 

MEASURE W Will:

  • Protect advanced science, technology, engineering, and math programs that help students get into college

  • Retain/attract highly-qualified teachers

  • Maintain manageable class sizes

  • Continue Career Technical Education for in-demand fields like auto mechanics, fabrication, skilled trades, biotech, medical and health sciences

  • Preserve high-quality music, visual, and performing arts programs

  • Keep classroom technology/instructional materials current

  • Provide academic intervention for students in need

  • Restore positions lost to budget cuts - especially teachers, counselors, and school librarians.

Measure W Taxpayer Protections:

  • Senior Citizens are eligible for exemption

  • No funds for administrators’ salaries 

  • Citizens’ Oversight and independent audits ensure proper spending

  • Measure W lasts 8 years only

  • All funds stay local, benefitting AUHSD only
